Remediation / Reclamation
Ghostpine offers a variety of reclamation and remediation services throughout the entire project life cycle. Ghostpine conducts Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA’s) (Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations, Detailed Site Investigations – British Columbia) including groundwater monitoring and sampling. These ESAs are important for identifying
- potential areas of environmental concern (APECs)
- potential contaminants in soil and groundwater and
- understanding the risks associated with the potential environmental receptors.
Ghostpine is experienced with the various regulatory guidelines and government agencies pertaining to contaminated site management in Alberta, including risk management and Tier 2 evaluations that establish site specific guidelines that assist in reducing projects costs and timelines. In British Columbia, we have extensive experience with BC CSR Instruments, such as Site Determinations and Certificate of Compliance and Certificates of Restoration (COR Part 1 and Part 2) for oil and gas related projects.
Ghostpine can provide contaminated site remediation services that includes a remedial options evaluation and selection process that will serve to be both cost effective while meeting the regulatory guidelines required for site closure. We will work with selected contractors at the preliminary stages of conceptual design to develop the preferred remedial strategy and its technical feasibility. Ghostpine can provide Pre-Disturbance Site Assessments (PSA’s), Schedule A Assessments (BC) and Reconnaissance Surveys for our clients allowing us to establish a baseline for future remediation and reclamation projects. ESAs gather site history based on first hand investigation, confirm the presence of environmental influences, and identify any contaminants present.
In Detailed Site Assessments (DSA’s), Schedule B Assessments (BC) and Post-Construction Reclamation Assessments (PCRA’s) specific to pipelines, we evaluate parameters such as soil depths and properties, vegetative growth and health, weeds and landscape parameters such as drainage, contours and rocks on the site to confirm that reclamation activities meet the regulatory criteria. The results of the assessments are summarized and presented in a comprehensive report along with mitigative measures, and a Reclamation Certificate Application (Alberta) or Certificate of Restoration (BC) containing all pertinent background information is prepared.
